The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) Young Adult Cohort is a partnership of the ELCA Justice for Women Program, the ELCA Strategy on HIV and AIDS, the Young Adults in Global Mission Alumni, ELCA World Hunger and ELCA Young Adult Ministry. These networks have identified a shared interest in young adult leadership development and faith formation within a social justice framework
This his cohort invites young adults to attend the International AIDS Conference and the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women as members of the Lutheran World Federation (LWF) Delegation. The LWF has recently begun a practice of sending delegations of young adults in their 20s and 30s to participate in international events in order to raise awareness and activism among younger adults.
Together, these networks are committed to engaging young adults who are justice seekers in order to create a movement of faith leaders. The cohort is committed to:
- Lifting up young adults;
- Mentoring new, younger leaders;
- Engaging women and men;
- Reelecting diversity – race, gender, sexual orientation, life experience, profession, vocation, etc…
- Connecting participants to the larger church;
- Encouraging ongoing faith formation, reflection, advocacy and action.
